- 16-year-old Chloe D. Coplen Anderson from Nebraska has been charged with first-degree murder and use of a deadly weapon after allegedly slitting the throat of her newborn baby and hiding the body in her closet.
- The police were alerted to the situation when they received a call that a girl had given birth and the baby was not breathing. Upon arrival, they found the baby with its throat slit and multiple stab wounds in its chest.
- Anderson's parents told the police that she had taken a boning knife from the kitchen drawer an hour before the incident. The knife was later found in Anderson's closet along with blood-soaked clothing and towels.
- Anderson initially told her mother that she was going to the store to buy pads due to heavy menstrual flow. When she returned, her mother confronted her about the blood in her room, and Anderson admitted to killing the baby.
- Anderson is being held without bond and is scheduled to appear in court on November 16. She was transported to Gordon Memorial Hospital and then air-transported to Regional West Medical Center, where she underwent surgery.
