16-Year-Old Killed, Another Teen Wounded in Little Village Shooting

The shooting occurred early Sunday morning on South Avers Avenue, with no arrests reported as police investigate.

A 16-year-old boy, identified as Jesus Sanchez, died after being shot in the abdomen in Little Village early Sunday morning.
A 15-year-old boy was also injured in the shooting, suffering a gunshot wound to the back, and is in good condition at Stroger Hospital.
The incident took place around 1:30 a.m. on the 2600 block of South Avers Avenue while the teens were standing on a sidewalk.
No suspects are in custody, and Chicago police detectives are actively investigating the case.
In a separate shooting Saturday night, a 17-year-old boy was seriously injured in Morgan Park after being shot in the back by someone in a dark-colored car.
