18 Injured and 14 Arrested in Fan Clashes After Europa League Match in Bilbao

Violent altercations erupted between fans and police before and after Athletic Bilbao's victory over AS Roma in the Europa League Round of 16.

The clashes occurred outside the Estadio San Mamés in Bilbao, involving fans of Athletic Bilbao and AS Roma, as well as police and security personnel.
A total of 18 people were injured, including 15 police officers, two security staff, and one Italian fan, according to local authorities.
Police arrested 14 individuals during the unrest; 13 have since been released, while one remains in custody pending further investigation.
The violence began in the afternoon near stadium entrances and escalated after the match, with fans throwing bottles and other objects at police officers.
Athletic Bilbao advanced to the Europa League quarterfinals with a 3-1 win, overcoming a 2-1 first-leg deficit; AS Roma played with 10 men after Mats Hummels received a red card in the 11th minute.
