18-Month-Old Killed, Mother Injured After Car Hits Sleeping Family in Mumbai
A car lost control and ran over a homeless family sleeping on a footpath in Wadala, killing a toddler and seriously injuring his mother.

- The victim, 18-month-old Vardan Londhe, was pronounced dead at Wadia Hospital, while his mother, Priya Londhe, sustained a fractured shoulder and is undergoing treatment at KEM Hospital.
- The family had been forced to sleep on the footpath after their slum dwelling was demolished, leaving them homeless and without alternative housing under a municipal rehabilitation scheme.
- The driver, Kamal Vijay Riya, 46, claimed he lost control of the vehicle while trying to avoid a collision with another car; police have ruled out intoxication but are awaiting blood test results.
- Riya has been arrested and charged under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for causing death by negligence and endangering human life, with investigations ongoing.
