The feature works by surfacing relevant items in the app's home tab when users are near the associated location, such as medical documents at a doctor's office or Wi-Fi credentials at a gym.
Users can add location data to new or existing items in their vault through a map view or by dropping a pin at the desired location.
1Password ensures privacy by processing location data locally on the device, with no storage or sharing of location information outside the app.
The feature is optional and can be disabled at any time, and it is now available to all 1Password customers following successful testing in the app's experimental labs.
