A 27-year-old man was found dead from a gunshot wound to the head in an apartment in Sannois, Val-d'Oise, on Friday afternoon.
The apartment had reportedly been converted into an illegal gambling space, described as a poker room or gaming den.
Authorities were alerted by a man who called the police claiming responsibility for the shooting, though the suspect fled the scene before officers arrived.
Local residents also reported hearing a gunshot, leading to the discovery of the victim by police around 3 PM.
The investigation has been handed over to the Val-d'Oise division for organized and specialized crime, with no arrests made as of Saturday.
