356 Schools Nationwide Earn National Blue Ribbon Honors

The U.S. Department of Education recognized schools for academic excellence and closing achievement gaps.

This year, 356 schools across the U.S. were awarded the prestigious National Blue Ribbon honor by the Department of Education.
The award recognizes schools for either exemplary high performance or significant progress in closing achievement gaps among student groups.
Texas had 31 schools recognized, the second highest number after California, which had 33.
Public and private schools from elementary to high school levels were included, with a majority being elementary schools.
The recognized schools will be formally honored at a ceremony in Washington, D.C. in November.
