45 Students Hospitalized After Suspected Food Poisoning at Thane School

Police have filed an FIR against the school management and food suppliers following the incident, with food samples sent for examination.

  • The incident occurred at a private school in Manisha Nagar, Kalwa, Thane, where students fell ill after consuming a mid-day meal.
  • Initially, 38 students were hospitalized with symptoms of giddiness, nausea, headache, and abdominal pain; the number later rose to 45.
  • The affected students, aged between 8 and 11 years, were treated at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital and are reported to be in stable condition.
  • The meal in question included rice, dal, and vegetables, with reports of a stale smell from the dal; food samples have been collected by the FDA for testing.
  • The Kalwa police have registered an FIR against the school administration and food suppliers under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita section 125 for negligence.
