49ers Induct Brent Jones as First Tight End in Team Hall of Fame

The three-time Super Bowl champion and franchise record-setter becomes the 33rd member of the Edward J. DeBartolo Sr. Hall of Fame.

  • Brent Jones, a four-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro, has been named the first tight end inducted into the San Francisco 49ers Hall of Fame.
  • Jones played 11 seasons with the 49ers, becoming the franchise’s all-time leader in receptions, yards, and touchdowns by a tight end at the time of his retirement.
  • He overcame a career-threatening car accident as a rookie and rose from being an eighth-string player to a key part of the 49ers’ dynasty under Bill Walsh and Steve Young.
  • Jones is the 33rd inductee into the Edward J. DeBartolo Sr. Hall of Fame, which honors the franchise’s legends with personalized statues at Levi’s Stadium.
  • In addition to his NFL accolades, Jones is also a member of the College Football, Division II Football, and Bay Area Sports Halls of Fame.
