5-Year-Old Girl Dies, Grandfather Missing After Being Swept Away by Wave in California

A 5-year-old girl, Yaretzi Noemi Biorato, tragically died after being swept into the Pacific Ocean by a giant wave off the coast of California's Half Moon Bay.
Her 54-year-old grandfather, Pascal Soriano, who was also swept away by the wave, remains missing after the Coast Guard called off the search after 22 hours.
Prior to the incident, the National Weather Service had issued a 'sneaker wave' warning, advising beachgoers to stay out of the water due to the risk of large, unexpected waves.
Despite the warning, Biorato and Soriano were visiting Martin’s Beach when the incident occurred.
