70-Year-Old Ugandan Woman Gives Birth to Twins After IVF Treatment

Safina Namukwaya, believed to be Africa's oldest mother, previously gave birth to a daughter in 2020 through the same treatment.

Safina Namukwaya, a 70-year-old woman in Uganda, has given birth to twins after receiving in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment, making her one of the world's oldest new mothers.
The twins, a boy and a girl, were born prematurely at 31 weeks and placed in incubators.
Namukwaya also gave birth to a daughter in 2020 following IVF treatment.
The father of the twins has not visited Namukwaya since she was admitted to the hospital for the delivery.
The Women's Hospital International and Fertility Centre, where Namukwaya received treatment, specializes in helping couples who struggle to have children.
