71-year-old Man Accused of Starting Massive Oak Fire Near Yosemite

A 71-year-old man from Mariposa was arrested on suspicion of starting the Oak Fire.
The fire burned almost 200 buildings west of Yosemite and caused multiple felony arson charges.
The cause of suspicion is unknown.
The fire started on July 22, 2022, near the store in the community of Midpines.
The fire burned 19,244 acres, destroyed 127 homes and 66 outbuildings, and injured three firefighters.
