8-Year-Old Boy Found Safe After 2 Days Lost in Remote Michigan Wilderness

  • An 8-year-old boy survived for two days in a remote Michigan state park after going missing while collecting firewood with his family.
  • He sheltered under a log, ate snow for hydration and was found in good health about two miles from the campsite.
  • Over 150 search and rescue personnel, including nine search dogs, combed the 60,000-acre park before volunteers located the boy.
  • The boy had hiked part of a trail before stopping, waiting and building makeshift shelter until rescuers found him.
  • After 48 hours lost, he walked out of the forest to rejoin his relieved family.
