Aaron Rodgers Progresses in Recovery, Aims for Week 16 Return
Jets face decision on Rodgers' status as practice window closes next week.
- Aaron Rodgers, the 40-year-old quarterback for the New York Jets, is making progress in his recovery from a torn left Achilles tendon, participating in limited practice and individual drills.
- Rodgers, who was injured in his debut with the Jets in Week 1, is aiming to return to play in Week 16 when the Jets host Washington.
- The Jets opened a 21-day practice window for Rodgers on Nov. 29, which expires next Wednesday. By then, the Jets must either activate him from injured reserve or he will be placed on IR for the rest of the season.
- Rodgers underwent surgery on Sept. 13, which included the placement of an internal brace on his Achilles tendon to expedite the healing process. If he plays this season, it would be the quickest known comeback from that injury among professional athletes.
- The Jets (5-8) are set to face the Miami Dolphins (9-4) on Sunday with Zach Wilson starting as quarterback. Wilson was recently named the AFC offensive player of the week.
