Alec Baldwin Indicted for Second Time in 'Rust' Shooting

New indictment follows extensive investigation and further testing on prop gun, contradicting Baldwin's claim he did not pull the trigger.

Alec Baldwin has been indicted for a second time on involuntary manslaughter charges in connection with the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the movie 'Rust' in 2021.
The new indictment comes after additional facts came to light following extensive investigation and further testing on the prop gun used in the incident.
Special prosecutors Kari Morrissey and Jason Lewis dropped initial charges against Baldwin in April 2023 citing 'new facts' in the case, but reserved the right to recharge him.
Forensic report obtained by the prosecution determined that the trigger of the prop gun must have been pulled with enough force to cause the accident, contradicting Baldwin's claim that he did not pull the trigger.
If convicted, Baldwin could face up to 18 months in prison.
