Overview

  • Amazon Prime Air has received FAA approval to deliver devices containing lithium-ion batteries, such as iPhones, AirPods, and Samsung Galaxy phones.
  • Drone deliveries are currently available in College Station, Texas, and the West Valley area of Phoenix, Arizona, with plans for future expansion pending regulatory approvals.
  • The MK30 drones, introduced in 2024, use onboard mapping to identify delivery points and no longer require QR codes for drop-offs.
  • Deliveries are limited to packages under five pounds, daylight hours, and favorable weather conditions, with a 75-minute weather forecast determining availability.
  • Amazon aims to expand the service to additional U.S. cities as well as the UK and Italy, subject to further regulatory clearances.
