Amazon Ends All Celebrity Voice Options for Alexa Assistants

As of September 30, Amazon’s smart speakers will nolonger offer special voice capabilities from Samuel L. Jackson, Shaquille O’Neal, and Melissa McCarthy.
Jackson’s voice was already discontinued,while the other two celebrity voices will continue working until the end of September.
The voice options allowed users to change Alexa’s voice and way of speaking to mirror the celebrities’ styles for a small fee.
However,the feature was not widely used, likely leading Amazon to conclude licensing the celebrity voices was too expensive to continue offering.
The move may also signal a new direction for Alexa that relies less on gimmicks and makes the voice assistant smarter and more conversational.
