Amazon expands palm-based payment system to all Whole Foods stores nationwide

Amazon is rolling out its Amazon One palm recognition payment system to every Whole Foods location in the U.S. by the end of 2023.
Customers can link their palm print to their credit card, Amazon account, and Prime membership to pay by hovering over a scanner.
The biometric payment system is already operational at over 200 Whole Foods and being adopted by other retailers like Panera Bread.
Amazon states palm data is encrypted and kept secure, but privacy advocates have concerns about potential misuse of biometric data.
The palm payment tech aims to provide convenience for shoppers by eliminating the need for wallets, phones, cards or cash.
