Vicenza's Mayor Condemns Violence as Police Clash with Protesters Amid Ongoing Israeli-Palestinian Conflict

Protesters clashed with police in Vicenza, Italy, during a demonstration against the presence of Israeli exhibitors at an international jewellery fair.
Police used water cannons against demonstrators who fired smoke bombs and flares.
The Vicenzaoro fair, which hosts more than 1,300 exhibitors from almost 40 countries, was not impacted by the clashes.
Vicenza mayor Giacomo Possamai condemned the violence, stating there was 'no justification' for it.
The protest comes in the wake of an unprecedented attack by Hamas on Israel, which resulted in the death of about 1,140 people, mostly civilians, and the ongoing Israeli offensive in Gaza that has killed at least 24,927 Palestinians.
