The update will enable 24-bit, 48 kHz lossless audio for USB-C AirPods Max, preserving the integrity of original recordings.
Ultra-low latency audio will improve performance for gaming, livestreaming, and music production, comparable to built-in speakers on Apple devices.
These features are exclusive to the USB-C version of AirPods Max and require a wired connection using the included USB-C cable.
Apple Music subscribers can access over 100 million songs in lossless audio with the updated AirPods Max.
A new $39 USB-C to 3.5mm cable is now available, allowing analog audio playback for the latest AirPods Max model.
