Apple has confirmed that users can add up to 32 items to its Find My app, a limit that was quietly doubled from 16 with the release of iOS 16 in 2022.
AirPods and AirPods Pro are counted as multiple items in the Find My app, with the first generation counted as two items and the second generation as three, due to the ability to track individual earbuds and the charging case.
The increase in the item limit caters to the growing list of accessories that can be paired with the Find My app.
Apple's clarification came after an update to one of its support documents.
Rumors suggest that Apple may introduce a new model of its item tracker, the AirTag, by 2025, which could feature improvements such as a second-generation ultrawide band chip for increased range, louder sounds, and different shapes.
