Apple Gives San Diego Siri Team Relocate-or-Fire Ultimatum

Employees given until end of February to decide, with termination slated for April if they choose not to relocate.

Apple has reportedly given an ultimatum to 121 employees in its San Diego-based Data Operations Annotations team, which works on improving Siri, to either relocate to Austin, Texas, or face termination.
The employees have been given until the end of February to decide if they will relocate, and if they don't, they'll be fired in April.
Apple is offering a $7,000 relocation stipend to employees willing to relocate and severance pay and six months of health insurance to those who choose to leave.
Most of the employees have indicated they're not willing to move, and some believe they won't be eligible for other jobs within Apple due to their lack of engineering backgrounds.
This decision comes as Apple is set to launch its Vision Pro mixed-reality headset in the U.S. on February 2.
