Apple Launches Device-based Passkeys in Latest Software Updates

Passkey support has been added to iCloud.com and Apple.com domains. They can be authenticated using Face ID or Touch ID.
Apple IDs will now automatically be assigned a passkey with iOS 17, iPadOS 17, and macOS Sonoma.
Passkeys work across devices and services, replacing traditional passwords.
Passkeys rely on authentication through Face ID, Touch ID, or PINs synced across devices instead of passwords.
Passkeys built on WebAuthn technology generate two keys for signing in without passwords to Apple and compatible third-party services.
