Apple Plans Major Overhaul of TV App to Consolidate Video Offerings by December

Amidst its push to become a main hub for streaming content, Apple plans to eliminate redundant iTunes apps and redesign its TV application to align with Netflix's user-interface style, streamlining content accessibility.

Apple is reportedly preparing for a major revamp of its TV app in a bid to consolidate its video offerings, with the update planned to roll out on all apple devices in December 2023.
The redesign of the TV app is aimed at providing users with a more Netflix-like interface, with a side panel navigation feature for easier content discovery.
As part of the revamp, Apple plans to discontinue dedicated iTunes apps for renting or buying movies and TV shows on Apple TV. Furthermore, redundant sections for Movies and TV shows on the iTunes Store app on iPhone and iPad will be axed.
The new TV app, offering content from Apple TV+, live sports channels, cable TV providers, and other streaming services, will be positioned as a centralized hub for video content, paving the way for better content management for users.
The success of the redesign is yet to be seen, as Apple's previous attempts at creating a universal streaming guide have faced challenges due to hesitations from content providers to offer their data and content outside their own apps.
