Apple to Bring Lossless and Ultra-Low Latency Audio to AirPods Max USB-C

A firmware update in April 2025 will introduce high-fidelity audio, low-latency features, and wired playback support for USB-C AirPods Max.

The update will enable 24-bit, 48 kHz lossless audio, offering studio-quality sound for music, movies, and games when using the included USB-C cable.
Ultra-low latency audio will enhance gaming, livestreaming, and music production by significantly reducing lag.
Personalized Spatial Audio with head tracking will be supported, allowing creators to mix and produce immersive audio experiences.
Lossless and ultra-low latency audio features are exclusive to the USB-C version of AirPods Max, excluding the Lightning model.
Apple has introduced a $39 USB-C to 3.5mm cable, enabling wired playback for AirPods Max with USB-C and compatibility with analog audio sources.
