Apple to Discontinue iPadOS 18 Support for Select Older Models
In a move that surprises some, Apple will not update certain iPad models with the A10X Fusion chip, while continuing support for older iPhones.

- Despite being powered by the more powerful A10X Fusion chip, the 2nd generation iPad Pro models will not receive the iPadOS 18 update.
- The 7th generation iPad, powered by the A10 Fusion chip, will continue to receive updates, including iPadOS 18.
- All iPhone models that currently support iOS 17 will also be compatible with iOS 18, showcasing Apple's commitment to maintaining support for older iPhone models.
- Apple is expected to officially announce the compatibility details for iPadOS 18 and iOS 18 at the WWDC event on June 10, 2024.
