Apple Updates Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro with New Features for Improved Video Editing and Music Creation on Mac and iPad

Innovative features to leverage built-in capabilities of Apple's M3 chip for improved accuracy in face and object tracking, faster encoding, enhanced user experience, and updated tools for music creation with Mastering Assistant, 32-bit recording, and sample manipulation; updates roll out later in the month for Final Cut Pro while Logic Pro's updates are available immediately.

  • Apple has committed to updating their Final Cut Pro software, using their M3 silicon chip to improve face and object tracking in video editing, resulting in faster H.264 and HEVC encoding.
  • New features in the updated Final Cut Pro will include automatic timeline scrolling, a simplification tool for overlapping connected clips, and added color grading presets, among other workflow improvements. Voiceover recording tools will also be included in the update for iPad users.
  • Apple's Logic Pro software for music creation has likewise been updated with several new tools, including the Mastering Assistant which adjusts the dynamics, frequency balance, timbre, and loudness of audio mixes. Additionally, Logic Pro will now support 32-bit float recording, reducing the risk of digital clipping.
  • Features previously available on Logic Pro for iPad, such as the sample-to-instrument tool Sample Alchemy and the audio multi-effect plugin Beat Breaker, have been ported to the Mac version, with two new sound packs included in the update. iPad users can also enjoy improved multitasking capabilities with the support for iPadOS' Split View and Stage Manager.
  • Both the new versions of Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro will be available through the Apple Store, with updates for the Final Cut Pro rolling out later in the month. The updated Logic Pro is already available for iPad users, and as a one-time purchase for Mac users.
