"Aquaman 2" Release Delayed Two Days; De Niro's "Wise Guys" Renamed "Alto Knights" and Pushed Back to November 2024
"Aquaman 2" Shifted to Busy Holiday Season with Traditional Three-Day Release, "Alto Knights" Delayed Amid Ongoing Actors’ Strike and Anticipated Promotion Efforts for De Niro's Other Projects
- Warner Bros. has shifted the release date of 'Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom' from December 20 to December 22, allowing the superhero film to have a traditional three-day opening in theaters.
- 'Aquaman 2' has been repositioned to avoid competition with the Timothée Chalamet chocolatier prequel 'Wonka,' which will debut on December 15, 2023.
- The studio's other planned releases include an adaptation of 'The Color Purple' musical set for Christmas Day, following more than a three-month break after their previous release 'The Nun II.'
- In additional reshuffling, Warner Bros. has renamed its upcoming Robert De Niro film from 'Wise Guys' to 'Alto Knights', a gangster drama where De Niro plays two roles. The film's release has been delayed from February 2, 2024, to November 14, 2024.
- The delay and renaming of 'Alto Knights' is partly attributed to the ongoing actors’ strike and De Niro's anticipated promotion efforts for his other projects, including 'Killers of the Flower Moon.'
