Arizona Makes Contraceptives Available Over the Counter

Arizona residents over 18 will soon be able to purchase contraceptives at local pharmacies without a doctor's prescription.
Patients will need to complete a health screening and blood pressure test to receive contraceptives over the counter.
The rule allowing over-the-counter contraceptives went into effect immediately following an announcement from Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs.
Contraceptives available over the counter will include hormonal and oral birth control medications that are self-administered.
Over 20 other states have already implemented similar policies providing FDA-approved contraceptives over the counter.
