Arkansas State Police confirmed that Stone County Deputy Justin Smith was fatally shot while attempting to serve a warrant.
The suspect, identified as Clinton Hefton, 52, allegedly resisted arrest and shot at Smith.
Officers responding to reports of shots fired found Deputy Smith fatally shot.
Hefton was later taken into custody at the home after a brief standoff.
Hefton is currently being held at the Cleburne County jail with charges pending.
