Assam Launches 'Nijut Moina' Scheme to Support Girls' Education

The initiative aims to reduce dropout rates and eliminate child marriage by providing monthly stipends to female students.

The Assam government has introduced the 'Nijut Moina' scheme to financially support girl students from Class 11 to post-graduation.
Monthly stipends range from Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 2,500, depending on the education level, and are distributed for 10 months each year.
The scheme aims to address high dropout rates among girls due to financial constraints, early marriage, and job applications.
Over 159,000 students received the first installment, with the initiative targeting 10 lakh girls by 2026 with a budget of Rs. 1,500 crore.
Eligibility requires regular attendance, good academic performance, and unmarried status during undergraduate studies.
