Avalanche in Idaho Claims Life of Skier, Two Others Rescued

The deceased has been identified as Corey J. Zalewski, while the survivors are Landon E. Crecelius and David R. Sittser.

Authorities in Idaho have recovered the body of a man who died in an avalanche near Steven’s Peak, in Shoshone County.
The deceased skier has been identified as Corey J. Zalewski.
Two other skiers, identified as Landon E. Crecelius, and David R. Sittser, were rescued from the avalanche.
The area had been under an avalanche warning for several days prior to the deadly disaster, as it had witnessed heavy winds and snowfall.
The Idaho Panhandle Avalanche Center warned that avalanches triggered by human activity “remain likely" on steeper terrain.
