‘Avignon’ Dominates 2025 Alpe d’Huez Comedy Film Festival with Three Awards

Johann Dionnet’s debut film wins Grand Prix, Canal+ Best Film, and Regional Jury Prize at a festival showcasing emerging talent.

The romantic comedy ‘Avignon,’ directed by and starring Johann Dionnet, won the Grand Prix, Canal+ Best Film Award, and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Regional Jury Prize.
Set during the Avignon theater festival, the film explores themes of ambition, identity, and love through the story of a struggling actor and a rising star actress.
The 2025 Alpe d’Huez festival heavily featured first-time directors, with seven of the ten films in competition being debut works.
Other notable winners included ‘On Ira’ by Enya Baroux, which earned Hélène Vincent and Juliette Gasquet the Best Actress Award for their performances in a heartfelt family road trip comedy.
The Audience Award went to ‘Le Répondeur’ by Fabienne Godet, a quirky story about an author and an impersonator navigating identity and communication.
