Ax-4 Launch Delayed to June 8 for Final Preparations

Overview

  • The Ax-4 mission, originally scheduled for May 29, has been rescheduled to no earlier than June 8, 2025, due to technical checks and ISS scheduling adjustments.
  • Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla of the Indian Air Force will serve as the mission pilot, marking India's return to human spaceflight after four decades.
  • The multinational crew includes Commander Peggy Whitson (USA) and mission specialists Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski (Poland) and Tibor Kapu (Hungary).
  • The mission, organized by Axiom Space in collaboration with NASA, ISRO, and other international agencies, will use a SpaceX Dragon spacecraft launched on a Falcon 9 rocket.
  • During their 14-day stay aboard the ISS, the crew will conduct scientific research, technology demonstrations, and experiments contributing to India's Gaganyaan program.
