Barry Jenkins to Direct Zendaya in Ronnie Spector Biopic 'Be My Baby'

Barry Jenkins, the Oscar-winning director of 'Moonlight,' has officially joined the Ronnie Spector biopic as director, marking a key development in the project.
Zendaya, handpicked by Ronnie Spector before her death in 2022, will portray the iconic Ronettes singer and co-produce the film.
The biopic, produced by A24, will adapt Spector's 1990 memoir 'Be My Baby' and focus on her abusive marriage to Phil Spector rather than a traditional full-life narrative.
Dave Kajganich, known for his work on 'Bones and All' and 'Suspiria,' is writing the screenplay, currently in active development.
Pre-production is underway, but casting for Phil Spector and other roles, as well as a release date, has yet to be announced.
