Battle Over Blues Legend Johnny Winter's Estate and Music Rights Heads to Court

A legal battle for control of Johnny Winter's music is being fought in court..
Winter's former personal manager and bandmate, Paul Nelson, is being sued by the family of Winter's late wife, Susan, who died in 2019.
The case was rescheduled for September and is about preserving Johnny Winter's legacy and vindicating the plaintiffs.
At stake is ownership of Winter's music catalogue, proceeds from record and merchandise sales, and authority to approve any commercial use of his songs.
Winter was a legendary blues guitarist who played at Woodstock in 1969 and was inducted into the Blues Foundation Hall of Fame.
