Bautzen’s Deutsch-Sorbisches Volkstheater Reports Strong 2024 Attendance and Creative Highlights

The Deutsch-Sorbisches Volkstheater in Bautzen hosted 760 events in 2024, attracting 124,791 visitors, a slight decrease from the previous year due to fewer performances.
The 28th Bautzener Theatersommer was a standout success, with over 37,000 attendees for the sold-out production of 'Spuk unterm Riesenrad.'
The theater presented 24 premieres in both German and Sorbian, including the acclaimed production 'Hercy,' which explored the history of the first Sorbian beat band.
International collaboration featured prominently in 2024, with guests from Ireland and Galician Spain participating in the 'phōnē' project for minority theater voices.
