BCCI Enforces New Rules on Player Families and Team Travel After Test Series Losses

The Indian cricket board limits family stays on tours and mandates team bus travel to improve performance and unity.

  • BCCI has reinstated a rule limiting players' families to a maximum 14-day stay during overseas tours lasting over 45 days, with shorter tours capped at 7 days.
  • Players are now required to travel exclusively on team buses to foster unity, prohibiting separate travel arrangements.
  • The changes follow India's back-to-back Test series losses, including a 1-3 defeat in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, breaking a decade-long streak of retaining the trophy.
  • Head coach Gautam Gambhir's manager, Gaurav Arora, has been barred from team hotels, VIP boxes, and team buses due to concerns about his presence in the team environment.
  • The BCCI is also reportedly considering a performance-based pay structure to enhance accountability among players.
