Bear attacks and injures Colorado sheepherder

A 35-year-old sheepherder was severely injured by a bear attack in Colorado's San Juan National Forest.
The herder sustained bite wounds to his head and other injuries after firing at the bear.
Two dead sheep with wounds consistent with a bear attack were also found.
The bear was located and euthanized per policy after attacking a human.
Bear attacks on humans are rare, but there have been other recent incidents in North America.
