Beef Tops Germany's Christmas Dinner Preferences, Survey Reveals

A YouGov poll finds that beef surpasses traditional goose and duck as the most popular choice for festive meals in Germany.

  • 39% of Germans plan to include beef, such as roasts or steaks, in their Christmas meals, making it the top choice for the holiday season.
  • Duck (33%) and goose (29%) rank second and third in popularity, followed by pork (26%), fish (24%), and game meats (21%).
  • Half of respondents say they eat the same amount of meat during Christmas as usual, while 30% report consuming more.
  • Sweets and alcohol also see increased consumption during the holidays, with 47% eating more sweets and 22% drinking more alcohol than usual.
  • Dining out remains uncommon, as 40% of Germans are opposed to eating at restaurants during Christmas, and only 8% plan to order food delivery.
