Émilie Dequenne, known for her Cannes-winning debut in 'Rosetta,' passed away on March 16, 2025, at the age of 43.
She was diagnosed in 2023 with corticosurrénalome, a rare and aggressive cancer affecting the adrenal glands, which has a low incidence rate of 1-2 cases per million annually.
Despite a brief remission in mid-2024, the cancer progressed, leading to her public announcement of a relapse in December 2024.
Her career was marked by critically acclaimed performances in socially and emotionally charged films, earning her multiple awards, including a César and two Magritte awards.
Dequenne was supported throughout her illness by her family, including her husband Michel Ferracci, and shared her hope to live fully despite her prognosis.
