Bengaluru Techie Dies by Self-Immolation After Alleged Blackmail by Uncle

A 24-year-old woman set herself on fire in a hotel after her uncle allegedly threatened to share her private photos and videos; the accused has been arrested.

Suhasi Singh, a 24-year-old IT professional in Bengaluru, died by self-immolation on January 12, 2025, after alleged harassment by her uncle, Praveen Singh.
The incident occurred at a hotel near Kundalahalli metro station, where her uncle had reportedly summoned her under threats of sharing her private photos and videos with her parents.
Police arrested Praveen Singh and recovered a pen drive from his possession, which is being analyzed as part of the investigation.
Suhasi Singh had been living with her uncle and aunt for six years, and her mother claims she frequently traveled with them during this period.
The case has sparked discussions on harassment and exploitation, with police continuing their probe under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
