Berlin Parliament Establishes Commission to Tackle Racism and Discrimination

The newly formed 25-member commission will develop strategies to combat racism, antisemitism, and other forms of discrimination by the end of the legislative term.

The Berlin Abgeordnetenhaus has set up an Enquete-Kommission to address racism, antisemitism, Muslim discrimination, and other forms of societal inequity.
The commission consists of 25 members, including 14 parliamentarians and 11 external experts, such as Israeli-German psychologist Ahmad Mansour.
The group is tasked with creating actionable strategies to promote social cohesion and reduce discrimination by the end of the current legislative period in 2026.
The commission's proposals will be developed independently of daily politics and submitted to the parliament in a final report.
Candidates nominated by CDU, SPD, Greens, and Linke were approved, while two AfD-nominated members failed to secure votes to join the commission.
