Biden Administration Approves Largest US Offshore Wind Project

The federal government gave approval for New Jersey's first offshore wind farm, Ocean Wind 1, to be built by Orsted, a Danish company.
Ocean Wind 1 will be located off the coast of Atlantic City, New Jersey and will provide power to 500,000 homes.
President Biden has set a goal of developing 30 gigawatts of offshore wind energy to power 10 million homes and create 77,000 jobs.
The Ocean Wind 1 project is the third commercial offshore wind project approved by the Biden administration and the largest offshore wind project approved in the US to date.
Although the project has faced opposition, the Biden administration says measures will be taken to protect marine life and that wind energy is key to combating climate change and transitioning to renewable energy.
