Big Bear Eaglet Dies Following Severe Winter Storm

One of three eaglets recently hatched by bald eagles Jackie and Shadow was found dead after heavy snowfall in California's Big Bear Valley.

The eaglet's death was confirmed by the Friends of Big Bear Valley nonprofit, which operates the live eagle nest webcam.
The chick was last seen alive during a feeding on Thursday evening before disappearing from view due to heavy snow obscuring the nest.
Over two feet of snow from a winter storm impacted the area, also damaging some of the nonprofit's camera equipment.
The cause of the eaglet's death remains unknown, and the organization has urged viewers to avoid speculation about the incident.
The two surviving eaglets are reportedly healthy and continue to be cared for by their parents, Jackie and Shadow, who have a dedicated online following.
