Blue Jackets and Red Wings Pay Tribute to Late Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau at NHL Stadium Series

Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau were killed in August 2024 by a suspected drunk driver while cycling near their family home in New Jersey.
The Columbus Blue Jackets wore outfits inspired by Johnny Gaudreau's signature style, including Avalon Surf Shop hoodies and AMIRI hats, as they walked to Ohio Stadium.
The Detroit Red Wings arrived wearing jerseys from various stages of the Gaudreaus' hockey careers, including Boston College and Team USA uniforms.
Johnny's widow, Meredith Gaudreau, led the Blue Jackets onto the ice, with the team and fans continuing to honor his legacy throughout the season.
The tribute took place ahead of the 2025 NHL Stadium Series game, which is expected to draw nearly 90,000 fans, making it one of the largest crowds in NHL history.
