BluSmart Driver Arrested After Robbing Gurugram Woman at Gunpoint

The cab aggregator has apologized and pledged to enhance safety measures following the incident involving a fake gun and a ₹55,000 theft.

A Gurugram woman and her son were robbed at gunpoint by a BluSmart cab driver during a ride from Airia Mall to Sector 86 on Friday night.
The driver, Sonu Singh, forced the woman to transfer ₹55,000 via UPI and stole her bag before abandoning them on the roadside.
Police arrested the driver within 24 hours, aided by BluSmart's detailed driver records; the gun used in the robbery was later found to be fake.
BluSmart expressed deep regret over the incident, highlighting its existing safety measures, including background checks and facial recognition, while announcing plans for further driver training and enhanced protocols.
The company has assured the affected family of full support and emphasized its commitment to rebuilding trust and ensuring rider safety.
