Boat Capsizes in Bihar, Leaving 3 Dead and Several Missing

A small boat carrying local residents across the Ganga River overturned, with rescue operations ongoing to locate the missing.

The incident occurred in the Manihari area of Katihar district, approximately 325 km east of Patna, Bihar's capital.
The boat was carrying 17 to 18 people, including a large extended family traveling to attend a relative's memorial service in Jharkhand.
Three bodies, including two elderly men and a one-year-old child, have been recovered while four to seven individuals remain missing.
Local divers and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been deployed to conduct rescue and recovery operations.
Authorities have initiated an investigation into the cause of the capsizing, with reports suggesting the boat may have been overloaded.
