Bobby Witt Jr. Joins Home Run Derby, Earns First All-Star Selection

The Kansas City Royals shortstop will compete in the Home Run Derby in his Texas hometown, marking a milestone in his rising MLB career.

Witt announced his participation in the Derby on social media, joining a field that includes Gunnar Henderson, Alec Bohm, and Pete Alonso.
This will be Witt's first Home Run Derby, taking place at Globe Life Field, near his hometown of Colleyville, Texas.
Witt was named an All-Star for the first time, recognized for his stellar performance this season with a .324 batting average and 15 home runs.
He sought advice from teammate Salvador Perez, a former Derby participant, before committing to the event.
Witt's brother-in-law, former MLB pitcher James Russell, will pitch to him during the Derby.
