Brazilian Police Raid Former President Bolsonaro's Home Over Allegations of Forged COVID Vaccine Records

Brazilian police executed search warrants and made arrests in 16 locations including former President Jair Bolsonaro's home related to forged COVID-19 vaccine records entered into the national health database between November 2021 and December 2022.
Federal investigators alleged Bolsonaro, his family members and close aides had their vaccine records falsified to circumvent health restrictions for unvaccinated individuals, allowing them to travel and access venues with proof of immunization they did not receive.
Bolsonaro, a vocal critic of COVID-19 vaccines who vowed never to receive one, denied any wrongdoing but confirmed police seized his cell phone during the raid.
The investigation is the latest in a series of probes putting pressure on Bolsonaro, who also faces inquiries into alleged voter suppression, undermining Brazil's electoral system and embezzling gifts from foreign leaders while in office.
Two of Bolsonaro's top aides were arrested Wednesday, and Bolsonaro is expected to face questioning by federal investigators.
